The TR3 is a British car designed in 1955 by the Standard Motor Company. When thinking of the most common model, the two-seat convertible often comes to mind. However, a third seat and a roof were available as options at the time. You may have already seen this configuration somewhere.
As for the history, it all begins with the TR line (Triumph Roadster). This range of sports cars aimed to compete with the Austin-Healey 100, offering a slightly more restrained style while maintaining a lower price. The first TR was quickly modified with a stiffer chassis, giving birth to the TR2, which was launched on the market in 1953.
This car offered an excellent balance between price and performance, leading to immediate success, particularly among American buyers.
The TR3 followed its predecessor’s design. It experienced its first evolutions upon release in 1955, with further updates in 1957. These included a redesigned grille, an aluminum mesh, shiny chrome additions, and revised tail lights and indicators.
