A little history
Histoire Fiat 124 spider

Simply good! Italian elegance, meticulous proportions and soft, dynamic lines.

In the 1960s, Italy was in the throes of unbridled economic growth. Fiat had new ambitions. Fiat wanted to rejuvenate its range. In March 1966, Fiat presented the 124 sedan, followed almost simultaneously by two sporty derivatives of its 124 wagon: the 124 coupé and the 124 spider.

The sober, elegant 124 Spider, designed by Tom Tjaarda, offers consensual lines reminiscent of the Ferrari 275 GTS. timeless charm!

The engine is by Aurelio Lampredi. A former V12 engine builder at Ferrari, he helped develop this new car by creating an engine bearing his name.

The 5-speed gearbox, a rarity at the time, enabled the 124 Spider to reach speeds of up to 170 km/h.

In August 1972, Fiat presented the third series of the 124 Spider, the “CS” version.

This series retained the same bodywork as the previous model, but introduced new engines. The interior featured more luxurious, high-quality upholstery. The new engines are derived from those powering the Fiat 132.

The “CS” version is aimed at a more demanding and affluent clientele.

The 1.6-liter engine is downsized to 1,592 cm3 (still 110 hp, but with a single carburetor), the 1.4-liter disappears and a 1,756 cm3 with 118 hp is added to the range. With this block, the Italian convertible reaches 185 km/h: a fitting finale!
